Following the success of the Idea Realization Lab 1, I was asked by DePaul to build a second makerspace on our Lincoln Park campus. As with IRL1, I developed the CAD design for the space, operational budget, and directed the furniture selection, tool selection, and hiring for the space. I also developed a partnership with Bosch, and facilitated the bulk purchase of tools through them and their subsidiary, Dremel brand.
The IRL2 continues to operate as one of the premier community spaces on DePaul’s Lincoln Park campus, hosts over a hundred events, facilitates courses from a diverse array of programs, and brings in thousands of unique visitors every year.
