This was the first makerspace that I co-founded, and currently operates out of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Founded in 2009, makerspaces were an extremely new concept at the time — as a result, Workshop 88 has played a part in defining what a makerspace looks like. In addition to running events in the early days like Hackerspaces in Space, Workshop 88 plays a role in the vibrant makerspace community in Chicago and frequently takes part in Maker Faires, HAM Fests, and other events.
