Spacelab makerspace has provided access to digital fabrication technology, classes, and making opportunities like Makerfests for the last 10 years. Classes and events at the makerspace are hosted by educators and/or professionals in their domain, while members do all kinds of making: 3D printing, photography, sewing, crafting with a vinyl cutter (Cricut).
Spacelab is run as a non-profit co-operative out of Lockport, IL. I direct the ongoing operations of Spacelab, including curriculum development, educational program development, community partnerships, budgeting and operations, and any other necessary functions. As the director, I have also collaborated with the City of Lockport as a consultant on the development of a feasibility plan to open a 100,000+ square foot “Makers Park.”
